Abu Dhabi Season 6 stat-attack: Know highest totals, top scorers and more!

After an enthralling season, filled with fireworks from the batters and impeccable skills by the bowlers, the Deccan Gladiators were crowned champions of the Abu Dhabi T10 Season 6.

The Gladiators beat debutants New York Strikers, who were on a seven-match unbeaten streak, in the final to seal back-to-back titles. The Nicholas Pooran-led side is the first team in ADT10 history to win two titles on the bounce and only the second team to win two titles.

Meanwhile, the Morrisville Samp Army, who also featured for the first time in the tournament, pipped Team Abu Dhabi for third place in the playoff.

Usman Khan was named as the UAE Player of the Tournament, while Nicholas Pooran was awarded the Player of the Tournament trophy. Mr. Consistency, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, won the Batter of the Tournament award and Akeal Hosein was adjudged as the Bowler of the Tournament.

The Deccan Gladiators’ captain Nicholas Pooran was in sublime touch throughout the tournament. While averaging 49.28 with the bat, Pooran scored 345 runs in 10 matches to take the team to the title. In fact, the former West Indies captain was the only player to score more than 300 runs this season.

Pooran’s teammate Tom Kohler-Cadmore also played some memorable knocks, while finishing with the second-most runs. Tim David, Eoin Morgan and Azam Khan completed the top five.

The South African bowling all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius made life difficult for the batters, courtesy of his accuracy and variations with the ball. Pretorius finished as the top wicket-taker in Season 6 with 12 wickets at an economy rate of 9.81.

Meanwhile, Akeal Hosein had the best economy rate (6.20) among bowlers with five or more wickets this edition.

Chasing a hefty target of 144, Eoin Morgan produced some trademark brilliance against the Northern Warriors to maintain New York Strikers’ winning streak. Kieron Pollard and Paul Stirling were already back in the pavilion, but the 2019 ODI World Cup-winning captain held his nerve, smashing 87 runs off just 35 balls, including 12 fours and three sixes.

On the previous day, Iftikhar Ahmed’s blitzkrieg set up Bangla Tigers’ 12-run win over Delhi Bulls. Coming in to bat in the fourth over, the Pakistan batter took apart the Bulls bowling with five fours and eight sixes during his unbeaten 30-ball 83.

Deccan Gladiators’ pair, Kohler-Cadmore and Pooran, also played blazing knocks in the tournament.

Eoin Morgan’s unbeaten 87 helped New York Strikers score 144/5, the highest team total of the Abu Dhabi T10 Season 6. The second-best total was also in the same game, with Northern Warriors scoring 143/3 after batting first.

The Northern Warriors helped themselves to another 140+ score, this time against the Braves, courtesy of Usman Khan’s 65 off 24 up top. Adam Lyth’s quickfire fifty was also key in the Warriors performance.

Meanwhile, the Season 6 winners also registered a couple of entries in the top five, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore grabbing the headlines.

Nicholas Pooran, the top run-scorer in Season 6, also hammered the most sixes (25) in the edition. Fellow West Indian Rovman Powell also produced some hefty blows with the bat, tonking the bowlers high into the Abu Dhabi sky.

Meanwhile, in only five games, Bangla Tigers’ Iftikhar Ahmed set the stage on fire with 18 sixes. He averaged the most sixes per game (3.6) among the top five players in the list.

To say that the Kohler-Cadmore and Pooran duo derailed opposition bowlers would be an understatement. The Deccan Gladiators pair notched three 100-plus stands in this season, powering the team to victory on all three occasions.

Meanwhile, Team Abu Dhabi’s James Vince and Brandon King were the only other pair to register a 100-run partnership, helping their team post 120/2 in the tie against Delhi Bulls. King was the aggressor with his 27-ball 64, while Vince ended with 26 off 20.

Carlos Brathwaite was the match-winner for The Chennai Braves with his spell of 3/4 against Bangla Tigers. He also smashed a fiery 44 with the bat in the match, which helped seal a 33-run victory. Mohammad Taimur was the only other bowler to pick four wickets in a match this season.

Shiraz Ahmed produced one of the top moments in the tournament, conceding only one run while taking three wickets in the final over against Northern Warriors. His heroics took Delhi Bulls over the line by four runs.
